PoE2 0.5.4 Expedition Atlas Guide: Tree, Liquid Verisium & Exchange Prices

PoE2 0.5.4 added an Expedition atlas tree, Liquid Verisium, and flux on the Currency Exchange. Here's what changed and what it costs.

Patch 0.5.4 didn't tweak Expedition at the margins — it gave Runes of Aldur a dedicated Expedition atlas tree, a new Liquid Verisium currency, and a rework to how runes propagate through remnants. Thaumaturgic Fluxes landed on the Currency Exchange the same week the peg blew past 720 Exalted per Divine.

If you read our Aldur's Saga guide under 0.5.2, half of it still applies. The other half is obsolete. This is the 0.5.4 economy update.

GGG's 0.5.4 preview is the fastest visual pass before you spend atlas points.

What 0.5.4 changed for Expedition

These are the patch-note lines that move prices, not just difficulty.

Expedition Atlas Passive Tree

Runes of Aldur finally has an Expedition atlas branch. You earn points by killing bosses in The Grand Expedition questline — same pattern as other mechanic trees, but expedition-specific.

The tree splits early:

  • Remnant path — more remnant encounters, better rune-chase outcomes, pairs with Liquid Verisium farming.
  • Raw Expedition path — higher expedition spawn rate on maps, better if you're hunting uniques from encounters rather than inscription recipes.

You cannot respec atlas points. Pick the fork your build actually clears, not the one a tier list assumes.

Nodes that matter for currency:

NodeEffectEconomy note
Feeling Lucky?Unlocks buying Liquid Verisium from Farrow with VerisiumMandatory for on-demand remnant farming
Extreme ArchaeologyOne massive explosion instead of several chargesMore remnants per blast — higher variance
Gaining Traction+50% monster rarity per remnant completed (displays as 25% until a future fix)Hotfix 3 moved hidden GE rarity here
Density / reward nodesExtra markers, duplicated runic monsters, more remnantsJuice once your build survives the mods

Our atlas 335 guide still covers general sustain and master unlocks. Jado's Eastern Knowledge remains your pre-tree Verisium scaler. The new expedition branch stacks on top — it doesn't replace Jado.

Liquid Verisium

Liquid Verisium is a stackable currency that immediately starts a Runic Remnant encounter with a random Runic Inscription. Right-click it, left-click a remnant to apply.

You buy it from Farrow using Verisium — but only after Feeling Lucky? is allocated on the expedition tree.

The loop GGG designed:

  1. Run expeditions → bank Verisium from shattered remnants.
  2. Buy Liquid Verisium at Farrow.
  3. Pop it → instant remnant with random recipe.
  4. Reinvest drops or craft runes at the Verisium Anvil.

Grand Expedition modifiers and propagation

Grand Expeditions now roll 1–2 expedition map modifiers, including:

  • Increased number of Runic Monster Markers
  • Runic Monsters are Duplicated
  • Area contains additional Remnants

Propagation rework: remnants now choose which rune slot propagates to later monsters — not a random rune tied to the recipe type. The UI highlights the propagating rune in the runeshape list. Read it before you detonate. Wrong slot propagation is sunk dynamite.

Hotfix 3 removed a hidden 50% increased monster rarity per remnant modifier on Grand Expeditions and folded the intent into Gaining Traction. Forum reports of bricking GEs via strongbox immortal mobs are still open — scout before you juice.

Doryani's Refined Formula master option now caps Grand Expeditions at five explosives. Less chaos, more control.

Flux on the Currency Exchange

Thaumaturgic Fluxes now appear under the Fluxes section on the Currency Exchange (patch note line easy to miss). That matters because flux tiers finally have a listed div book instead of only player trade whispers.

What the Exchange shows (Jun 25–Jul 4)

Window starts at 0.5.4 deploy. Numbers from hourly Currency Exchange snapshots — liquid items only where volume supports it.

Expedition Logbook
Expedition Logbook
~1.1 div
Liquid entry ticket — ~757 items/hr on the book
Aldur's Saga
Aldur's Saga
~37 div
Top saga tier — thin book (~2/hr), verify before you burn
Crackling Flux
Crackling Flux
0.07 div
+212% in nine days post-patch — liquid flux mover
Thaumaturgic Flux (L20)
Thaumaturgic Flux (L20)
~0.35 div
Mid-tier flux — thicker book than high-level tiers

Saga spread: Aldur's Saga averaged ~37 div in this window. Olroth's Saga sat near 0.17 div. Uhtred's Saga near 1 div. The consumable market is tiered — don't price every saga like Aldur's.

Logbook math: at ~1.1 div per logbook with the 0.5.2 Grand Expedition guarantee per ocean section, you're buying structure, not a single map roll. Whether ~37 div for Aldur's Saga clears that bar depends on how many Grand Expeditions you scout and how many modifiers you chain — same variance story as our 0.5.2 Aldur piece, but the atlas tree and Liquid Verisium give you more knobs than Eastern Knowledge alone.

Flux warning: many Thaumaturgic Flux tiers show volume under five per hour on div legs. Those prints look priced but the book is empty — same ex-primary trap as expedition flux in weekly recaps. Quote Crackling-tier movers with volume; treat Perfect Flux (~37 div avg, vol ≈ 1/hr) as a display price only.

Macro context: the peg moved 374 → 723 ex per div over the same window (+94%). Expedition inputs priced in ex feel cheaper in relative terms even when div stickers rise — check both legs on the Exchange before you convert.

0.5.4 tailwinds
  • Expedition atlas tree
Tune remnant density and rewards — no longer Jado-only scaling.
  • Liquid Verisium loop
On-demand remnants after Feeling Lucky? — Verisium sink with random recipe variance.
  • Flux on Exchange
Thaumaturgic tiers listable — Crackling +212% in nine days.
Still true from 0.5.2
  • GE per logbook section
0.5.2 guarantee still applies — scout before burning saga.
  • Delirium / Ritual competition
Omen book still repricing hard — atlas hours have alternatives.
  • Propagation skill check
Wrong slot highlight = wasted dynamite on juiced remnants.

The 0.5.4 farm loop (economy-first)

Mechanics guides say "run eight remnants." This is the cost order we'd use on the Exchange:

  1. Unlock the tree — push The Grand Expedition questline, bank atlas points from boss kills.
  2. Feeling Lucky? first — without it, Liquid Verisium isn't purchasable and you're map-gated on remnant spawn rate.
  3. Confirm logbook liquidity — if logbooks sit near 1 div and your build clears GE mods, running logbooks beats hoarding divines while the peg climbs.
  4. Buy Liquid Verisium with Verisium, not divines — unless the cross-currency flip is explicitly green on the scanner. Random inscription means failed remnants are sunk Verisium, not sunk divines.
  5. Read propagation highlights — slot propagation rewards runeshape literacy more than 0.5.2 did.
  6. Add density nodes only when survival is stable — Gaining Traction + duplicated runic monsters is where divines come from and where deaths come from.

If you're still on the no-juice white-map loop from June, Eastern Knowledge + GE scouting still works. The atlas tree is optional scaling, not a hard gate — but mid-league farmers without Feeling Lucky? are leaving Liquid Verisium and flux supply on the table.

Where Divine Tendies fits

Patch notes explain the tree. Currency Exchange math is bid-ask spreads — integer ratios, gold costs, and vendor recipes that hold for hours instead of one logbook section.

While you're routing expedition loot, the scanner surfaces cross-currency flips and 3-to-1 vendor recipes updated hourly. Route divines into the ladder from our inflation guide instead of letting them sit while 0.5.4 reprices logbooks, sagas, and flux around you.

Check the Exchange, read the propagation highlight, then decide if tonight's session is logbooks, Liquid Verisium, or something else entirely.
